NJ 4-H Igniting Your Leadership Potential: The Art of Self Leadership

Before we lead others, we must be able to lead ourselves. The Art of Self Leadership focuses on how youth can build character based on integrity and emotional security, develop habits of self-discipline and initiative to achieve goals, and choose their own set of core values for making wise life decisions.

During each class meeting, we will examine images that represent leadership ideas based on the work of Dr. Tim Elmore and take part in reflect and respond questions, a self-assessment, and an exercise that students can apply to their everyday lives.

From 4 pm-5:30 pm, youth will log in once a week for a face-to-face with the instructor on the dates below and then complete some assignments asynchronously.

Are you in grades 8-13 (one year out of high school) and interested in global citizenship? If so, see how you can get involved in a teen research project this summer!

Sharon Kinsey, 4-H Agent/Associate Professor in Camden County, is also a doctoral student at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in the Global Studies in Education Program. She hopes you can help her understand how youth see themselves in the world and whether youth identify as global citizens.

There are two ways you can participate:

1) Complete an anonymous 10-15 minute online survey relating to your views on global citizenship.

2) Actively participate in a 4-week online course with other teens about global citizenship in July or August 2022 for about 1.5 hours per session. Complete pre-post surveys and weekly assignments. Certificate of completion provided.

Parental Consent Form must be completed prior to participation in either option:
